Welcome to the First Hamsters In Focus Virtual Hamster Show!
Hamsters in focus is an online group where dedicated hamster breeders discuss breeding strategies and techniques, genetics, exhibition standards, judging, showing, and ethics as they relate to the purposeful, goal-directed breeding of both Dwarf and Syrian hamsters. The premise of the group is that the development of show-worthy animals cannot be achieved without the setting and maintaining of specific and informed breeding goals.
It has become increasingly clear in recent years that many serious hamster breeders face two major obstacles. Due to distances and lack of show hosting organizations, it is often difficult or impossible for breeders to compare their animals to those of other breeders to develop a sense of the strengths and shorcomings of their own lines. Also, without an independant evaluation by an impartial judge it is very hard for a breeder to develop an accurate sense of how their breeding program is progressing towards set goals. Thus the idea of a virtual hamster show was born.
All exhibtors agree to participate in this event in the spirit of good sportsmanship, fun, and education in which this event was designed.
It is understood that the virtual nature of this show means that all animals are being judged based on photographs. While all efforts have been made to simulate live judging, there is no way to duplicate in-person judging through photographs. The judge reserves the right to alter the scoring procedure to better accomodate the virtual nature of this show.
