Comments – There is a small amount of browning in the coat of this female.
One of the things we aren’t attempting to judge in this show is the belly
markings in the self hamsters and the chest band on the agouti hamsters. I
would encourage people to review the standards on those two items (or ask for
more details on the Hamsters in Focus list). I mention this because it
appears she may have some extra white in the chest area. This hamster has
reasonably good type. Her head is a bit small in proportion to her body, and
her head could be shorter and blunter, but she has some breadth to her body
and head.

Comments – These photos make it very difficult to assess color. Only the top view gives any indication of color. Turning off the flash is necessary to get a truer representation of color. This hamster has a small head in proportion to her body. She needs a much broader skull as well as shorter face and blunter nose. The front view shows reasonable proportions within the head, it’s the breadth of the skull particularly in relation to the rest of the body that is lacking. The breadth through the rest of her body could also
be improved. The fur looks a bit thin, but again these photos do not make judging of this hamster easy, and in person judging might lead to a significantly different score.

Comments – The type on this hamster is her weakest trait. She lacks the
breadth in body and skull. She may still be young, but her type will remain
weak. It also appears she may be a short haired hamster. Her hair does not
look long enough for her to be a long haired hamster, but it is on the long
side for a short haired hamster. I’d have to see her in person, but first
indications from these photos is that she is a short haired hamster. The
color is also a bit on the orange side. The satin gene will change the color
some, and of course the photos themselves may not show her true color.
