Coat: Banded coat - dark bands brown. Light band off white/beige/cream/tan/peach/red
Undercoat: Off white/beige/cream/tan/peach/red
Legs and Face: White/off white/peach
Facial Markings: May be dark enough to give the appearance of a full bar, however the color is always salt and pepper rather than solid. Markings on face often fade and can be much less extensive in adults, detectible only as rings around the eyes.
Pigment: Dark brown
Eyes: Amber
Notes: If undercoat and light banding is close in color to dark bands in the coat it may be difficult to tell this color apart from Dark Red or even Mahogany Red as an adult.
Newborn or Puppy: Born with a sooty or "dirty" looking face. Undercoat off white/beige/cream/tan/peach/red.
Coat: Salt and pepper coat – dark bands brown, light band off white/beige/cream/tan/peach/red.
Undercoat: Off white/beige/cream/tan/peach/red.
Legs and Face: White/off white/peach
Facial Markings: Markings fade in color and size, never having the appearance of a full bar, and being washed out and shadow-like instead of solid
Pigment: Brown
Eyes: Amber
Notes: If undercoat and light banding is close in color to dark bands in the coat it may be difficult to tell this color apart from Dark Red as an adult – facial markings are the key differentiation.
Newborn or Puppy: Born with crisp facial markings/masking and large white eyebrows. Undercoat off white/beige/cream/tan/peach/red. Eyes on many (not all) will be bright blue for a short time then turn greenish/amber.
Coat: Appear Brown from a distance however most have a white/beige/cream/tan/peach/red band at the base of the coat. Very dark individuals may be missing this band.
Undercoat: Usually beige/cream/tan/peach/red, however may be brown/tan along topline and in very dark individuals.
Legs and Face: White/off white/peach
Facial Markings: Always crisp and clear cut includes a full bar (except in individuals with additional white spotting) that appears solid in color on the face.
Pigment: Brown
Eyes: Amber
Notes: Never has the extreme masking seen on Manogany Red dogs. If undercoat and light banding is close in color to dark bands in the coat it may be difficult to tell this color apart from Mahogany Red
as an adult – facial markings are the key differentiation. Generally pigment and eye color is darker than that seen in Light Red dogs.
